5 Days - Tanzania Camping Safari To Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater

l was so hesitant to go on this tour that l spent months thinking about doing it solo. l had so many concerns about the Safari, l have alot of back issues and my flares up are frequent. But l dont easily give up l reached out to alot of agencies and none of them were as responsive and reassuring as Alaitol Safaris! All my questions were answered right away! l booked the 5 days tour ( Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorngoro Crater) and as l was heading to the airport l remember googling all parks and l found out that theres much to do in Lake Manyara during this time of the year and thank god the very first day of my Safari l remember the guide telling us that we will skip Lake Manyara and we will add an extra day in Serengeti which was a relief to hear if only l could go back in time l wouldve added more days to Serengeti, it was a delight! Our guide was Esau who was an expert and had all the answers for all of our questions. He knew everything about the routes in the parks and all the shortcuts! Gudian was our chef for the safari and he was an excellent chef prepared for us a variety of delicious meals, by far the best avocado salad lve ever tasted! First day we headed to the Tarangire park, the ride was okay had an extra cushion for my back for extra support. We saw bunch of elephants, zebras, wildebeests, vultures and a sleeping lioness on the tree. We stayed in a lodge in a room which was much needed before our camping trip to Serengeti Second day we were off to the legendary Serengeti! The roads were a disaster it was honestly quite rough all roads were unpaved we approximately took 4-5 hours to get there. It was all worth it. The moment we drove inside the Sernegeti l knew l would have the time of my life. Camping was pretty tricky we were give a pillow, sleeping bag and a foam mattress. The washroom was clean. The stars were beautiful at night l could see the milkyway with my own naked eye. The highlight of my whole trip was sleeping in the tent and listening to all the wild animals hunting at night. Be prepared to fall asleep to all the nocturnal animals hunting and interacting. Hyenas were the most talkative at night and they are always getting interrupted by the rawring lions! Third day (which was the best) we headed to the Mara river to watch the wildbeests crossing and luck was by our side. We arrived right on time, all wildebeests just waiting we spent around 20 mins watching them wait, suddenly we could sense the tensions rising up and Esau knew what was happening next, he pulled over at the edge of the cliff to witness the first wildebeest stepping into the water. An epic experience that l will never forget. We've seen it all in the Serengeti, leopards, cheetahs, pride of lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, cape buffalos and bunch of other animals. Fourth day was our last day in the Serenegti and we were off to Ngorngoro crater the ride was tough but not as long as the drive from Manyara to Serenegti. The simba campsite was so clean and pristine. Showers had warm water and were clean. Weather was a bit chilly and we always had guests coming to our camp. At the recommendation of a colleague, I decided to take a safari in the middle of COVID outbreak. I needed a vacation and to go somewhere where I could safely be socially distant. There's no better place than the Serengeti to have enough space. From the moment that our guides pick us up from the airport (Fredy -- the guide -- and Godi -- the chef), it was a blasty blast. Fredy is a kindhearted, warm, gentle, fun, exceptionally intelligent and knowledgeable guide. Though he wouldn't ever let me out of the car to take pictures (I would jokingly tease him about this and put no serious thought towards it), he drove us around to our heart's content, showing us every large and tiny creature the Serengeti and Ngorongoro (and other parks) had to offer. At our request, he'd take us to watch the sun rise and sunset, he'd take us out to see elephants, he found a beautiful pride of lions which, due to the lack of other tourists, we had the pleasure of spending hours watching, and he'd just let us sit out in the open fields listening to the sounds of nature. He could tell you anything/everything about every single creature we saw. Godi accompanied us for each stop and had the most incredible food prepared for breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- spaghetti, pizza, eggs, salad, fruit...you name it, he had it prepared. More to the point, Godi was also an incredible guide and just overall stellar human. His family history is sooo interesting and unique! Between the two of them, each morning started with coffee and conversation, we'd go out seeking fun animals, listen to fun music, talk about life, each lunch, nap, do it all over again, watch the sunset over the acacia trees, and then eat dinner while playing cards. Truly, it was the adventure of a lifetime. I couldn't recommend this safari enough to anyone/everyone. You'd be LUCKY to have Fredy and Godi be your guides. You'd be even luckier to see all of these incredible animals in their natural habitat, including our own curious selves. Tips: Take photos! But, also take in each scene. Remember the sights and smells. Photos can capture a moment in time, but it's difficult to capture an experience! The trip was amazing. Abel organised everything really well and cared about anything. The Guide Esau was a specialist in what he is doing. He knows all about the wildlife and open for any request. At least it was able to eat glutenfree for me and a other guest ate vegetarian. The chef knows about allergies and can prepare a really good meal. Had an amazing experience on a 5 day Safari with Alaitol Safaris. It was very well organised with an additional excursion being arranged last minute as there was more time before our return flight than initially thought. Our guide for the excursion, Frank, made it a very enjoyable day. However the biggest thank you has to go to our safari guide, Abel, who was extremely knowledgeable and had eyes like a hawk when spotting the wildlife. He ensured we saw all the big five plus many more and saw them numerous times, frequently very close to the jeep. I cannot thank him enough as he made it such an unforgettable experience. Esau was a truly top guy pointing out all the spectacular wildlife and geography as we travelled on our adventure. His knowledge, experience, and skills made the holiday totally unforgettable. Thanks, Esau, that was totally awesome.

Had a great 5 day tour. Our driver/guide Andrew and our cook Moshi were great. Andrew has done this for 23 years and excellent at spotting animals/ driving to the right spot/driving safely and comfortably. Moshi was a sweet and great cook. The tour also included airport pickup and transfer, as well as a comfortable hotel the night before and after. Even though this was a camping safari, we had one night at a lodge which was a nice surprise. Don’t forget to bring: head torch, sandals for showering, travel towel, soap, toilet paper for the camping stops. We didn’t have wifi working in the car but most campsites had working servicing and could charge your phone in the dining room at night. Tents were comfortable and could easily fall asleep on mattress and sleeping bag they provided. The owner Abel and our guide arranged for medicine in the next car to be sent to me on the Serengeti when I had a minor infection (not related to the Safari) so I didn’t have to wait to visit a pharmacy till I got back to Arusha ...more ...less

I had the most amazing safari tour in Tanzania with Alaitol Safaris! I spent 5 days exploring the Seregenti and Ngorongoro crater and witnessed up close: lions, lion cubs, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, wildebeest, zebras and so, so much more! We camped in the Seregenti for a couple nights, which was an incredible experience! You can hear animals through the middle of the night under the most clearest sky of glimmering stars. It’s all just surreal. You’ll have opportunity to buy African souvenirs, such as Maasai masks and other neat relics. My driver and cook were fantastic people and the best of hosts.
