Location: Amman
The day begins with a visit to the Wadi Mujib Reserve, where an adventurous self-guided hike along the Siq Trail takes participants through a stunning sandstone ravine. The hike leads to one of the canyon’s highest waterfalls. Along the way, the trail passes through shallow river sections and waist-deep pools, with ropes and metal ladders helping to navigate some rocky sections. After about an hour, the 18-meter-high waterfall is reached, where there is time to rest and swim in the pools beneath the cascading water. Afterward, the trail is retraced back to the visitors’ center for the transfer to Mount Nebo.
Next, the journey continues to Mount Nebo, located just west of Madaba. From this hilltop, panoramic views of the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, and Palestine can be seen. On clear days, Jericho and Jerusalem are visible. Mount Nebo has long been believed to be the site where Moses died, having gazed upon the Promised Land after leading the Israelites out of Egypt. The site became a pilgrimage destination in early Christian times, and the mosaics created by craftsmen from that period have been uncovered over the last 80 years.
Afterward, the town of Madaba is visited. This lively town is known for its remarkable mosaic map of the Holy Land, discovered on the floor of a Byzantine church. Dating back to around 560 C.E., the map provides a detailed depiction of the region, from the fish in the River Jordan to the streets of Jerusalem, offering a unique insight into the world of early Christian pilgrims.
In Madaba, a mosaic workshop experience allows visitors to learn about the ancient art form and create their own small mosaic piece.
The day continues with a scenic drive along the Kings Highway, one of the oldest continuously used roads in the world. This historic route once connected ancient civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia and remained an important trade route through Ottoman times. Today, it offers a picturesque journey through the hills between Petra, Karak, and Madaba.
The day concludes with an overnight stay at a Bedouin camp in Beida, providing an authentic cultural experience under the stars.
Day 3: Beida - Petra - Beida, Jordan
Location: Al Beidha
Today’s hike takes you into Petra via a scenic and lesser-known Bedouin trail that winds through the mountains. The journey begins with a couple of hours walking across open farmland before crossing eroded sandstone, with sweeping views of the Great Rift Valley to the west. After another hour, the trail descends towards Petra, revealing the impressive rock-cut façade of ad Deir (the Monastery). There’s time to rest, enjoy some tea, and explore the ruins before continuing down the Nabataean processional steps into the heart of Petra.
After exploring the temples and tombs, the route leads through a hidden slot canyon known as the "Dark Siq," eventually joining the main Siq for a classic entrance to Petra. This final section leads directly to Petra’s most iconic monument, the Treasury. This full day of hiking offers a chance to experience two of the most breathtaking approaches to Petra.
SAFETY NOTE: Depending on your physical condition, the rain season and the condition of the Dark Siq at the time of the tour, the guide reserves the full right to follow an alternative route.
Day 4: Dead Sea, Jordan
Location: Dead Sea
Today, you’ll visit the Dead Sea, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to float in its warm, highly saline waters—a truly unforgettable experience. As the lowest point on Earth’s surface, the Dead Sea is renowned for its mineral-rich mud, which has been celebrated for its therapeutic properties since ancient times. While this valuable mud can be expensive in Europe, here in Jordan you can scoop it right from the seabed and enjoy a full-body treatment. The striking contrast of the blue waters, white salt-encrusted shores, and the backdrop of red desert mountains creates an exceptionally beautiful and serene setting.
Day 5: Dead Sea - Amman, Jordan
Location: Dead Sea
A group transfer will take you from your hotel to Queen Alia International Airport, a 40-minute drive. Wishing you a safe journey home, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Jordan in the future.
