What is the itinerary for the first day of the trek?
On the first day, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Cusco between 5:00-6:00 am and transferred by bus to Lares Town. After enjoying the hot springs (extra cost), you will start a 6-hour trek to Wakawasi, passing by glaciers, wildlife, and local communities. The day ends with camping at Wakawasi community.

What is the itinerary for the second day of the trek?
The second day starts with an uphill 4-hour trek over Ipsayccocha Pass, followed by a 40-minute walk downhill to a lunch stop next to a lake. You will then continue for 3 more hours to Patacancha town, take a car to Ollantaytambo, and finally a train to Aguas Calientes.

What is the itinerary for the third day of the trek?
On the third day, you will catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu to appreciate the city in the early morning light. After a 2-hour guided tour, you can explore on your own. You will then take a bus back to Aguas Calientes, visit the local marketplace, and take a train back to Ollantaytambo followed by a bus to Cusco, arriving around 20:00.

Is there an age limit?
No! Most of our bamba travellers fall between the ages of 18 - 35, but everyone is young at heart and welcome to come experience the world with us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 118, we invite you to travel with bamba and have the time of your life! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?
Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.

Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip, especially when travelling in developing countries. Bamba does not include travel insurance of any type.Your current medical insurance may cover part of your trip, so it is important for you to become familiar with your current coverage. We recommend purchasing additional travel insurance that provides coverage for medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and repatriation, lost or stolen items and unforeseen cancellations. If you plan to participate in activities such as white-water rafting, trekking, sand-buggy rides, etc please make sure they are included in your policy.
