Day 2: Dickson Sector, Chile
Location: Dickson Lake
Hike to Dickson (B/L/D)
This will be a long but unforgettable day of hiking. The first part of the trail will take you up and down the foothills of the Paine Massif mountain range with magnificent photo opportunities along the way, crowned with fluffy white clouds. You will then begin your descent and walk along the shore of the Paine Lake to a beautiful green location with stunning views of the surrounding peaks, a campsite and Mountain Hostel.
Hike: 6 to 8 hours - 18km / Difficulty: High / Elevation Gain: 200m
Day 3: Los Perros Campsite, Chile
Location: Los Perros
Hike to Los Perros (B/L/D)
Make the most of the shorter trekking day ahead, by waking up early and enjoying the silence by the riverside, while contemplating the clouds passing over the snowy mountain peaks. Once you have absorbed the surrounding scenery, with its hanging glacier, you will be ready to continue on your adventure, taking you through a lenga forest, home to the handsome Magellan woodpecker. On the last stretch of the trail, you will be surprised by Los Perros Glacier hanging above a serene grey lagoon. Thirty minutes later, you will arrive at Los Perros Campsite, located in a quiet, ancient forest.
NOTE: In the Perros Sector, the meal service is provided with lunch boxes and there is no restaurant service.
Hike: 4 to 5 hours - 9km / Difficulty: High / Elevation Gain: 360m
Day 4: Grey Sector, Chile
Location: Grey Glacier
Hike to Grey Glacier (B/L/D)
Today will probably be the most exhausting but also the most spectacular day of your trip. Warning: there will be slippery and swampy terrain, as well as steep climbs and descents. You must leave Los Perros early in the morning. On the first part of the trail you will cross through swampy land followed by a long, steep climb to the windy John Gardner mountain pass. Once up there, the breathtaking view will make you feel quite small. Right in front of you will be one of the huge tongues of the Southern Ice Fields, filled with cracks and ice of the rarest shades of blue and green. A landscape where you do not know where the glacier ends and the clouds begin. After a short break, a long descent through the rocks will begin, to then go around the Grey Glacier, which will be within sight all the way to the Grey Lake.
Hike: 9 to 12 hours - 22km / Difficulty: High / Altitude Initial: 620m, Highest: 1,241m
Day 5: Paine Grande Sector, Chile
Location: Cerro Paine Grande
Hike to Paine Grande Sector (B/L/D)
Today, an easy walk to Paine Grande awaits you. In the morning, you will have the option to kayak beside the Grey Glacier (Kayak Excursion’s fee is not included in this program and it requires previous reservation). This is the part of the Circuit where the “O” meets the “W”. After a few very intense days, today you will enjoy a relaxing walk in the foothills of the mountain, amongst Antarctic beech trees (ñirre), Dombey’s beech (coigüe) and the Chilean firetree (notro). This short, yet gratifying trek will fill your senses and the views of Mount Paine Grande, with the highest peak in the region (3,050m) and its hanging glaciers are just incredible. Once you arrive at the campsite, you can kick-back and rest or take a leisurely walk along the shore of Lake Pehoé’s turquoise waters.
Hike: 4 hours - 11km / Difficulty: Medium / Altitude Initial: 130m, Highest: 388m
Day 6: Frances Sector, Chile
Location: Vallée del Francés
Hike to Valle del Francés (B/L/D)
On this day you will visit another one of the most iconic and magical places in the park, the striking Francés Valley. Along the way you will enjoy the peace and quiet of pure nature, be surrounded by majestic mountain peaks and feel totally immersed in wild vegetation. You will savor in the serenity of the forests and the glacial streams, where you can fill your bottle with pure, fresh water. And you will marvel at the majestic Los Cuernos Mountains, looming overhead. The grand finale of this trek is like no other, a lookout with incredible views of the Francés Glacier and the rest of the Paine Massif Mountain Range.
Hike: 8 to 9 hours - 20.5km / Difficulty: High /Altitude Initial: 100m, Highest: 762m
Day 7: Central Sector, Chile
Location: Central Chile
Hike to Central Sector (B/L/D)
With the spectacular Cuernos del Paine to your left and the colors of the Nordenskjöld Lake to your right, you will walk towards Central Sector. You will begin by walking along the Arriero River, which offers great places to relax and refill your bottle with fresh running water. You will be drawn to the beauty of these enormous summits looming over the turquoise lake below and will want to capture the incredible scenery forever in a photo. Lake Nordenskjöld is surrounded by amazing geographical contrasts, home to many birds, so we recommend you look out for condors overhead. You will then continue along the base of the magnificent Mount Almirante Nieto and its hanging glaciers (2,670 m), a massif with a changing climate. At night, just like throughout the rest of your adventure, you will be able to enjoy the relaxed and cosmopolitan atmosphere at the Central Sector, have a cold beer and share your experiences and stories with other hikers. If you feel tired after so many days of difficult hiking, you can stop by the Hotel Las Torres Spa for a well-deserved massage or to try the famous cordero al palo (spit-roasted lamb). These services are not included in the program.
Hike: 4 to 5 hours - 14km / Difficulty: Medium / Elevation Gain: 200m
Day 8: Torres Del Paine National Park - Puerto Natales, Chile
Location: Puerto Natales
Hike to Base Las Torres (B/L)
The day begins with a slowly ascending hike through the Patagonian pampas and begins to steepen as you enter the Ascencio Valley, until you reach Los Vientos Mountain Pass - with its spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and lakes. You will continue hiking, past the Chileno Mountain Hostel and through a native lenga forest, before approaching the final stretch of your adventure. This part of the hike takes about an hour and is over rocky terrain, lined with enormous boulders. After a short stop you will follow a rock trail to the spectacular Las Torres Base Lookout Point to enjoy the grandeur of the South Tower (2,850 m), the Central Tower (2,800 m) and the North Tower (2,600 m). Later, you will begin the descent to the Central Sector, where you will take the bus back to Puerto Natales at 7pm.
