What are the benefits of travelling on Viti Levu as opposed to the other islands?
The benefits are simple; the biggest island in Fiji or mainland provides comforts. Viti Levu has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and due to the fact they are on the main island away from most tourist destinations they are clean and untouched. Travelling on the main island also allows you to save heaps more than you would on the island! Goods, food, etc are all cheaper where they are made and that is Viti Levu. 85% of the Fijian people live on Viti Levu, which means you will meet and mingle with a lot of them on Feejee Experience!
-
What is village etiquette?
There are a lot of little detail and etiquette when it comes to Fiji custom on entering a village. Your Guide will thoroughly go through this on your visit to any of the villages, but here are some of the basics: • Dress modestly. Wear a shirt with sleeves that cover your shoulders and cleavage. Also, be sure to wear a sulu or sarong (both men and women). • Do not wear sun glasses or hats into the village. • Check with your Guide if it is okay to take photos in the village. • Bring kava (don’t worry every village we visit on the Feejee Experience trip, your Guide has already purchased this on the groups behalf.)
-
What if I'm travelling on my own?
A good portion of people who start Feejee Experience are doing it on their own, but you wouldn’t know it by the end of their trip. You’ll meet all sorts of people from all over the world and quite a few locals too. We’ve had people start off as strangers and become lifelong friends. The great people you meet is one of the best things about Feejee Experience.
-
What's Fiji food like?
Mmmm, tastiness! Indigenous Fijian, Polynesian, Indian, Chinese, and Western cuisine are found throughout the country reflecting Fiji’s multicultural tastes absorbed from its variety of immigrants over the last 200 years. Carbohydrates and local fruit/veggies play a big part in all Fijians diets and most locals take advantage of the abundance of sea food and so should you. While in Fiji you will have the opportunity to experience a few new foods, but just in case you are a bit picky there are always Western dishes available.
