Today, we set out for the historic town of Kruja, a site of immense cultural and historical significance.
We’ll explore the majestic Kruja Castle, an impressive fortress that once served as the stronghold of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg. Wander through its ancient ramparts and defensive walls, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Inside the castle, the Skanderbeg Museum provides fascinating insights into the life and legacy of this legendary figure, while the Ethnographic Museum, housed in a traditional Ottoman-era house, offers a glimpse into the local culture and daily life of Kruja’s past.

The climate is decidedly Mediterranean throughout the whole of the coastal area with hot summers tending towards heat waves. Winters are rainy but mild in temperature with very agreeable mid-seasons. It tends to be more continental in the mountainous zones: The temperature differences are especially marked from one season to another and the north-east of the country experiences winters with frequent snow.
