Tour Overview

Bhutan Package Tour is a unique cultural tour that takes you to the Buddhist nation of Bhutan. The small country offers you many historic and cultural sites that you can visit. You also get to witness the Bhutanese way of living and observe the beautiful Himalayan landscapes. Likewise, you explore the high passes and other natural landmarks on the tour.The journey begins from Kathmandu with a flight to Paro. After you land, you drive to Thimpu and stay overnight there. The next day, you explore Thimpu and visit King’s Memorial Chorten, National Library, and Nunnery Temple among others. Also, you can visit the mini zoo to watch Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Further, you drive to Punakha via Dochu La Pass. Next, you visit Lungchutse Monastery, Chimi Lhakhang, and Punakha Dzong. Further, you drive back to Paro and explore Paro the following day. You’ll visit Rinpung Dzong, Kichu Lhakhang, Drugyal Dzong, and Taktsang Monastery. Lastly, you fly back to Kathmandu from Paro.

Day 6 : Bhutan Package Tour - 6 Days

Location: Thimphu


 Day 01: Fly From Kathmandu to Paro And Drive to Thimphu. (L/D)

Druk Air flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular of all mountain flights. Whether flying along with the Himalayan range from Kathmandu or over the foothills, each flight is a mesmerizing feat and offers exciting descent into the Kingdom.

On arrival at the airport, received by our representative and then transfer to Thimphu, the modern capital town of Bhutan.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing in Thimphu. (B/L/D)

Visit Trashichhoedzong, the beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Then visit the National Library which has a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. After that drive to Arts & Crafts School, famous for traditional thangka paintings. Here you will see, students at work producing the intricate design on cloth.

After lunch visits Handicrafts Emporium which displays the wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products. Then drive to Memorial Chorten, the stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s Third King who is popularly regarded as Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings and statues inside this monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 03: Drive From Thimphu to Punakha and Sightseeing. (B/L/D)

After breakfast drive to Punakha with a short stop at Dochula pass (3,080m) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the Chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7,158m), Tsendagang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m ), Jejegangphugang (7,158 m ), Kangphugang (7,170 m), Zongphugang (7, 060 m ), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana – finally Gangkar plenum, the highest peak in Bhutan at (7,497m).

Later visit Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative center of the region, Punakha Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan’s history. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has now been fully restored. After that drive to Wangduephodrang visiting Dzong and the local market. The district of Wangduephodrang is also famous for its bamboo products, slate, and stone carvings. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.

Day 04: Drive From Punakha to Paro. (B/L/D)

After breakfast drive to Paro en route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627, it now houses the School for religious studies. Afternoon in Paro visits Ta Dzong, the National Museum of the Kingdom. Originally built as Watch Tower since 1967 it is serving as the National Museum of the country and holding the fascinating collection of art, artifacts, thangka paintings, and Bhutan's exquisite postage stamps.

Afterward, walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong. Built-in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 05: Full Day Sightseeing in Paro. (B/L/D)

After breakfast drive north of Paro valley to ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. From this fort, Bhutanese repelled several invasions by Tibetan armies. Nearby visit traditional Bhutanese Farm House which offers a good insight into the lifestyle of local people. Then take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, the most famous of Bhutanese monasteries.

It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery hence it is called “Tiger’s Nest”. The excursion to the monastery takes about 5 hours for a round trip. While the return to Paro town visits en route Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 06: Departure From Paro to Kathmandu. (B/D)

After breakfast, we fly back to Kathmandu. Evening you can do shopping in Thamel for your friends & family and if you have any other tour then we will continue from the next day. In the evening, we will have dinner in Nepalese Restaurant along with the cultural dance program.

  • How to enter Nepal?

    You can choose one of two mediums, namely, airways or road transport to enter Nepal. If you are heading via airways, you will touch down at the Tribhuvan International Airport from where you can process your VISA and get all the required approval for your stay. You can also choose to enter the nation via roadways. The nation borders India and has several entry points including Kakarvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Gaddachauki at the Nepal-India border. Similarly, Kodari and Kerung are the options located at the Nepal-Tibet border.

  • Do you have airport pick-up facilities?

    Yes, our representatives will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport from where you will be transported directly to the hotel via a private vehicle. The services will also be provided for any domestic flights within the nation or your final departure back home.

    Yes, on arrival visas in Nepal are easily available at the Tribhuvan International Airport or any of the entry/exit points at the Nepal-India or Nepal-Tibet border. This review is long overdue and I apologize. I cannot begin to express what an amazing itinerary Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada put together for me. I travelled solo from the US and had the most amazing adventure of a lifetime. His employees and tour guides (Hi Prakash :)), looked after me as if I was family. Mr. Bhagwat Simkhada even dealt with a last minute issue (mine, not theirs), that resulted in a significant change to my itinerary while I was there, and he somehow found a way to replace my original selections with equally enjoyable excursions. My experience with Himalayan Adventure Trek was that it was superior service for everything. From the beginning in the planning stages, all the way through my final departure, Bhagwat was available and quickly responsive to phone calls and emails. Nepal was truly an incredible country to visit, adventure, culture, history and amazing people. Traveling on my own, I admit to having been a bit concerned about safety before I got there, but i was made to feel extremely comfortable first by everyone representing Himalayan Adventure and then by the staff at the hotels that were arranged, and most of all, the Nepali people themselves. I cannot wait to reach out to Bhagwat to start to plan my return visit.

The greatest trip I could...

The greatest trip I could have imagined all thanks to Mr. Simkhada and Prakash (our lead guide) We originally reached out to Mr. Simkhada to plan our trip to Everest Base Camp and boy was it planned to the last detail - every single aspect of it was planned out from the moment we got off the plane in Kathmandu to the moment we took off to return home. Unfortunately, the one detail that can't be planned around is weather and weather derailed that trip completely - instead of flying a helicopter to Lukla, we had to pivot to a different plan. Let me set the stage because pivoting to a different plan doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was MASSIVE. People were stuck trying to go to Lukla and getting out of Lukla for about 5 days - that means that 100s of 1000s of people were looking to change their plans. Additionally, Annapurna Circuit Trek had a lot of natural disasters (landslides and avalanches) and so the only option for all these people was Annapurna Base Camp. Within 2 hours of us telling Mr. Simkhada and Prakash that we would switch our plan from EBC to ABC they had EVERYTHING planned out and not just for a group of 4 or 5 people, no 18 PEOPLE! We had tickets to Pokhara from Kathmandu, buses were ready to pick us up, porters were put in place and local assistant guides were identified and hired. All the tea houses, lunches, dinners, everything was planned. To be honest, we didn't realize the enormity of their planning excellence until we were literally on the trek running into groups that had to also re-plan their treks to not only find out that 6 to 7 people were sharing rooms, being turned away from teahouses due to full capacity, or having to set up tents to sleep outside. Outside of planning we also loved the team they put together for us. Prakash is excellent - professional but fun and extremely detail oriented. By day one, he had integrated himself into our group so well that he was endearingly calling my mom, "mom." The assistant guides Urkin, Manoj, and Sitaram were also fantastic - very loving, and made sure we had the absolute best time. Finally, the porters, the 9 porters, we never saw anything but a smile on their faces. Really hats off to this company. We could have had a disaster trip and no one would have been at fault because you can't control the weather, but despite difficult conditions - they put together a trip of a lifetime.

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A...

BEWARE! DO NOT BOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY. Very disappointed in our “luxury” 11 day tour with H.A Treks and T in March. Despite having full knowledge of the extensive road demolition throughout Nepal, Bhagwat sent us out on a very uncomfortable and unsafe journey in a car that was completely unsuitable for the road conditions. To top it off, our driver/guide spoke no English. We chose to end the trip early and fly back to Kathmandu at our own expense. When we complained and outlined all of our concerns to Bhagwat, he reluctantly offered a refund of $100 on a $4000 ruined “luxury” trip.
