Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1: Lisbon Arrival
Location: Lisbon
Accommodation Name: hotel
Welcome to Portugal! Upon arrival in Lisbon, you will pick up your car from the airport. After checking in to your hotel, spend the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city. Perhaps take a short trip to the Alfama neighborhood, the oldest part in Lisbon, filled with beautifully bright-tiled buildings perched along the steep cobblestone streets next to the Tagus River. Take in the incredible evening views of this ancient city and watch the sunset over the orange-hued rooftops from Miradouro das Portas do Sol — a famous viewpoint in Lisbon.
Overnight in Lisbon
Day 2: Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Cabo Da Roca – Lisbon (105 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Lisbon
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive north to Sintra, a village set in the footsteps of the Sintra Mountains and Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It is highly recommended to visit the Quinta de Regaleira — a famous monument with plenty of ornate gazebos, benches with sculptures, and initiation wells. See the system of underground tunnels and grottoes, intended to confuse and delight explorers. After a short drive to the south, you will arrive in Cascais. This beautiful resort town is teeming with beaches and perfect opportunities for swimming and soaking up the sun. Travel west to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in mainland Europe. Discover the mesmerizing landscapes and see the incredible views from the lighthouse. Later, you will drive east to Lisbon.
Overnight in Lisbon
Day 3: Lisbon – Alcobaca – Batalha – Fatima (165 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Fatima
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Start your day with a drive up north, arriving in the town of Alcobaca. We recommend visiting the Alcobaca Monastery; one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal, and a fascinating World Heritage Site. The massive monasterys serene Gothic architecture dates to the 12th century. Traveling north-east, you will arrive in the town of Batalha. We recommend visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of Batalha to see its awe-inspiring sculptures and vaults. The last destination for the day will be Fatima city. See the gigantic plazas, beautiful basilicas, and the famous caves of Grutas da Moeda — a true natural masterpiece with rocks shaped by running water over millions of years.
Overnight in Fatima
Day 4: Fatima – Coimbra – Viseu (180 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Viseu
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
After breakfast, you will travel north to Coimbra city, situated on the banks of the Mondego River. We recommend visiting the oldest university in Portugal, the University of Coimbra, and scaling up the 180 steps on the old 16th-century university tower for an exceptional view of the city. This city is home to multiple churches among other religious institutions. From there, your journey will continue north to the heart of Portugal, arriving in the city of Viseu. Discover the historic granite monuments and cathedrals and see the popular Centro Historico, a historic quarter, cresting at the cathedral square.
Overnight in Viseu
Day 5: Viseu – Porto (130 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Porto
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel and a drive to the northwestern city of Porto, with a fascinating city center that was designated a World Heritage Site. There are medieval walls, gleaming Baroque churches, compact streets, and Romanesque Cathedrals which deserve a visit. Fortified port wines, dating back to the ancient ages, are still stored in the warehouses on the south bank. Take a trip to the west of Porto to see the villas and Casas. This is also home to the 75-meter-high tower structure of Clerigos Church. A few 240 steps up will surprise you with a fascinating panorama of the city from the top (a must-see)!
Overnight in Porto
Day 6: Porto – Aveiro – Tomar – Fatima (255 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Fatima
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Today, you will travel south towards Fatima, with an initial stop in the maritime city of Aveiro. Water is in the soul of Aveiro, as it is crisscrossed by canals which you may navigate with painted gondola-style boats known as moliceiros. Take some time to see the monastery-turned-museum of Museu de Aveiro, with its fascinating collections dating to the 15th century. Later, you will travel south to the city founded by the Knights Templar, Tomar, which is also the last remaining Templar town in the world. Here you can see the World Heritage Site on your own — the Convent of Christ, a famous round church, and Aqueduto dos Pegões — the magnificent six-kilometre aqueduct which conducts water from the four springs of Pegões, built in the 1590s. Continue your tour to Fatima, where you will end your day.
Overnight in Fatima
Day 7: Fatima – Lisbon (130 Kms) (B/-/-)
Location: Lisbon
Accommodation Name: hotel

Traveling south, make your way back to the capital city of Lisbon, where you will spend the day at leisure. Perhaps wonder at the Torre de Belem, the most iconic feature in the city, known as the last sight famous adventurers (such as the prodigal explorer Vasco da Gama) would have seen as they drifted out into the Atlantic Ocean.
