Day 1 : Arrive at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp and begin half-day bird watching

Location: Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

  • 8 am - Pick up from Hotel in Kathmandu and drive to Kathmandu Domestic Airport
  • Arrive at Biratnagar Airport. Meet and drive 1 hour to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp
  • 1 pm – Enjoy the Lunch
  • 3 pm – Go for Bird watching tour around Saptakoshi river on foot
  • 7 pm - Dinner
  • Meals included: lunch, dinner
  • Accommodation included: Accommodation at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp


Day 2 : Early morning nature walk and full-day safari after breakfast

Location: Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

  • 5:30 am - Wakeup call
  • 6 am - Morning nature walk in the vicinity
  • 8 am - Breakfast
  • 9 am - 6 pm: Raft boat on the upper part of Sapta Koshi River with naturalist to view some of the water birds, water buffaloes, dolphins and various water habitats. End boat trip by the bank of river and have picnic lunch. Short drive to the Koshi Barrage to view some bird life and fresh water dolphins.
  • Late afternoon return to the camp. (Please note: Koshi Barrage and surrounding area is wide and everyday guests will be taken to different areas).
  • 7 pm: Dinner
  • Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner
  • Accommodation included: Accommodation at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp


Day 3 : Early morning bird watching and departure after breakfast

Location: Kathmandu

  • 5:30 am - Wakeup call
  • 6 am: More bird watching in the nearby Jungle
  • 8 am: Breakfast
  • 9 am: Transfer to Biratnagar Airport for your departure from Koshi
  • Arrival at Kathmandu domestic airport and Hotel drop off.

I went on the "Kathmandu: Pharping, Dakshinkali and Chobar Tour with Lunch" tour un February 2020. The guide and driver picked me up on time in a very nice car. This is why I gave 2 stars and not 1. Other than that: - The description says that the tour includes visits of Asura cave, Shesnarayan temple, Gorakhnath temple, Dakshinkali temple and the Chobar Gorge. However, we did not visit Shesnarayan and Gorakhnath temples. - Pictures in the description have been taken prior to the 2015 earthquake. The temple at Chobar Gorge has been severely damaged and doesn't look like that. I understand that this is out of the control of the tour company. However, pictures should be updated. - We stopped at 2 monasteries (including the one with the giant monument showed in the description). Both monasteries were closed. I was then told to take pictures through a hole in the gate. - We stopped at a cavern that was apparently closed since last year. - The description says that this is a 8h tour. I was back at my hotel after 4 hours. - There was a large number of kids on the road that were trying to stop cars by standing on the road with ropes. They were asking money. The driver was driving the car as close as possible to scare them. The guide and him found it very funny. I would not recommend this tour. ...more ...less
