The families of nuns paid large sums of money for their daughters to join the convent, thus increasing the wealth and prestige of the Monastery. Instead, the jungle slowly swallowed its stone constructions, enveloping and hiding it for centuries to come. At the end of the tour, return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch at the famous Café Inkaterra, a beautiful thatched-roof restaurant hemmed in between the railway and a mountain.
