The collection consisting of King Tutankhamun's tomb and tens of thousands of other rare and unique archaeological finds has found a new home in a museum built on the plateau of the pyramids of Giza. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is one of the mega national projects that is considered to be a great addition to Egyptian tourism and international cultural and media tourism. It reflects the extent of Egyptian international cooperation, as it is considered one of the largest civilizational and archaeological projects in the world, and the largest museum in the world dedicated to one civilization, which is the ancient Egyptian civilization.

You will begin this day of your Egypt Vacation by visiting the Aswan High Dam, built in the 1960s to provide much-needed electricity and irrigation for Egypt. Nubia, the area that was flooded, experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has known. Then we go to see the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lies in the granite quarries used to provide the main building material in ancient Egypt. It would have been the largest piece of stone ever handled but when a crack was discovered it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angelika Island, to see Philae Temple, one of the Nubian Temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers, and reliefs which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt after which you will be transferred back to your Nile cruise with Overnight stay on board in Aswan.

In the afternoon, you will continue your Egypt Vacation by sailing down the Nile to visit the huge Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, which is the most complete and best-preserved of Egyptian Temples, consisting of many columns, halls, chambers, and chapels. Two statues of Horus flank the twin-towered entrance gate one of the truly magnificent items inside is an interesting inscription listing the titles of books (scrolls) held in the library. ( The permitted amount of tombs to visit was determined by the Egyptian authorities to preserve them from the large flow of visitors and are rotated throughout the year, therefore, making confirming which tombs nearly impossible).
