Day 1 : Fes To The Sahara + Camel Trek

Moustafa Elmouden
Moustafa Elmouden

Location: Fes

Accommodation: Camp

Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

We continue our journey onwards from Fes to Ifrane, through hills blanketed in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, where a few Barbary apes still call home. Passing through the Middle and High Atlas ranges, we will catch our first glimpse of Southern Morocco’s unique architectural style and stop for lunch overlooking a breathtaking view of the dramatic peaks of the High Atlas rising behind the town of Midelt. As we descend into the desert plains, the view changes from dramatic mountain peaks to an expansive oasis punctuated by countless Ksours (fortified villages), which then give way to a vast stony plain that marks the edges of the Sahara. As the mid-day sun wanes, we will mount our camels and trek into the pink sands of the Moroccan Sahara; here, we will have ample free time for you to explore and take in the beauty and vastness of the desert dunes. Once the sun sets, a Moroccan dinner will be served alongside live music around the campfire, after which you are free to explore again - this time in the company of a million stars exploding against the pitch-black sky, and the all-encompassing silence of the Sahara at night. ...more ...less

Day 2 : A Desert Sunrise, Africa's Hollywood And Todra Gorge

Location: Merzouga

Accommodation: Hostel, Hotel, Lodge, Riad

Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

At your request, our staff will wake you at the crack of dawn to witness the spectacle of the desert sunrise, the colour of the sand contrasting beautifully with the palette of shadows on the dunes. After some light breakfast and tea we will ride the camels back across the desert to the Kasbah to freshen up before our journey back West towards the Todra Gorge, known as "Morocco's Grand Canyon". We will have lunch here and amble along the valley to take in the view. From there, we continue on to Ouarzazate, a bustling southern city often referred to as "The Hollywood of Morocco" owing to the many famous films shot on location such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Kingdom of Heaven, as well as several seasons of the hit show, Game of Thrones. Here, we will explore the nearby Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the most famous kasbah inMorocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the backdrop for many of the films and shows shot on location.

Day 3 : Desert Oasis + Ait Ben Haddou, Marrakech By Evening

abdelmajid ouazine

Location: Marrakesh

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast we will drive through the villages of this charming area, passing fields cultivated by Berber women and getting some brilliant views of the Atlas Mountains. Our journey will continue towards Ouarzazate, going off-road along the piste to visit Berber nomads in their caves and join them for a glass of tea. From here, we will continue through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Rose Festival in May, and past the "Road of 1000 Kasbahs" by the Skoura Oasis before arriving in Ouarzazate. In Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”, we will visit the Taouirirt Kasbah and the cinematographic museum before continuing on to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the most famous kasbah in Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters such as “Gladiator” “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. You will have the chance to explore some of the ruined buildings and climb to the top of the hill where the agadir (granary) offers a spectacular view over the village and the surrounding countryside. You may also want to enter one of the houses and share a glass of mint tea with some of the locals to gain a better understanding of their way of life. In the afternoon you'll drive north across the High Atlas Mountains. The road, completed by the French Foreign Legion in 1936, winds up over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass and offers stunning views over the mountains before descending past Berber villages to the plains surrounding Marrakech. Even today, the name Marrakech conjures up scenery from Arabian Nights - alleyways, souks, and market stalls. This remarkable city, with the graceful architecture of the renowned 11th-century Koutoubia Minaret dominating the skyline, never fails to satisfy the curiosity of its visitors. We will arrive back in Marrakech by late afternoon.

Highly recommended this tour

28-Jun-2019

Yassine was a fantastic guide who showed us many things we would have never seen on our own. His stories and explanations about the region, people and places were really interesting and gave us insights into the culture and history of Morocco. Yassine was keen to ensure he met our needs and encouraged questions and requests. He maintained his service and professionalism throughout the tour even though it was Ramadan and he must have been tired. His driving was always careful and safe and we felt very comfortable with him at all times. ...more ...less

Thank you Abdul and MPT

14-Feb-2019

Abdul was a fantastic guide for the four of us on our trip from Fes to Marrakech! He was very kind and enjoyable to spend the three-day drive with. We used this tour as also our means to travel from one part of Morocco to the other, and it was well worth the value. The visit to Merzouga was the best! Riding the camels in the Sahara was something I’ll never forget. We also really enjoyed our accommodations in the Atlas Mountains. The hotel rooms and food offered at dinner were much more than we expected. The terrain of Morocco was all so different and interesting to view as we enjoyed this experience. ...more ...less

Wonderful three days tour to Sahara

27-Aug-2019

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Morocco with our wonderful tour guide Ismail. We experienced an insight into the Berber culture and the unique arid Moroccan landscape, which was topped off by a brilliant camel trek in the western sahara. A special mention must go to our Camel Guid Zayd who is an absolute good man! Our trip started in Fez and ended in Marrakech....Said took us to many attractions and made sure we got the best panoramic shots! Even when we were fast asleep they made sure we wouldn't miss important sites along the trip. The desert experience was amazing- not to be missed! Overall I would totally recommend Ismail and morocco private tours ! Thanks ...more ...less
