Bac Kan - Ba Be National Park (B/L/D)

We check-out after breakfast and cycle 20 kilometres from Bac Han, mostly uphill, turning off highway 3 for a quieter road with great views of small villages on the opposite side of the river. We’ll stop for lunch on the way.
Later in the afternoon we go for a boat cruise on Ba Be Lake, the central attraction of Ba Be National Park. We also visit Pac Ngoi Village, where we’ll stay for the night.

Ba Be - Cao Bang (B/L/D)

On the third day of our cycling tour we bike through several passes in the Pia Oac mountain range, before reaching Nguyen Binh. Then we trade the bicycle for a bus to get us to Cao Bang, where the Hmong, Zao, Tho and Nung minorities all live in harmony. We’ll stay here in Cao Bang overnight.

Cao Bang - Ban Gioc Falls - Cao Bang (B/L/D)
Location: Cao Bang

Today we’ll have well paved roads the whole way as we head to the famous Ban Gioc Waterfall. On the way we ride up and down Ma Phuc Pass, enjoying the beauty of the karst valley below, as well as the numerous Tay and Nung villages. We’ll have picnic lunch on arrival and then go for a swim in the shadow of the gargantuan falls that form part of the border between Vietnam and China. Afterwards we take a late afternoon bus back to Cao Bang where we’ll again stay the night.

Day 5

Cao Bang - Lang Son - Mau Son (B/L/D)
Location: Lang Son
Accommodation Name: hotel

We start with a 67km morning ride to That Khe, passing through 3 mountain passes and Dong Khe. We’ll have a lunch break in That Khe before transferring to Lang Son and Mau Son in the afternoon by bus. On arrival we’ll get to enjoy a nice sunset before staying overnight.

Day 6

Mau Son - Ha Noi (B/L/D)
Location: Hanoi
Accommodation Name: hotel

Early morning is free to discover the nearby villages, before we set off on a down hill ride to Lang Son. This border town was all but destroyed in the recent Sino-Vietnamese war, but was rebuilt and has become an important trading centre in the time since. Once done here we take a bus back to Hanoi and enjoy a farewell dinner in the capital.
