Day 2 : Accra City Tour

Morning pick up in a private air-condition vehicle. Visit W.E.B. Du Bois Center, take a guided tour of the museum and listen to history of the Father of Modern Pan Africanism. Continue to the Independence Square and visit the Eternal Flame of African Liberation, lit by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah first President of Ghana. Visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum, dedicated to Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah for his struggle for Ghana’s independence. Listen to history of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and his vision for Ghana. Stop at Makola Market, Accra’s largest open market overflowed with goods, people, scents and sounds to see how local Ghanaian market operates. Visit Jamestown, a fishing community as well as one of the historic old towns of Accra. Take a guided tour of its interesting sight and learn new things.

Day 3 : Shai Hills Resource Reserve, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary & Wli Waterfalls.

5 Hours Drive
7:00AM depart for Shai Hills Resource Reserve, an about 51 kilometres square and only wildlife Reserve in the Greater Accra plains. Tour through the Reserve with a special site guide to see baboons, ostrich, zebras, antelopes etc and a fancy rock climbing with a knot ropes. Continue to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, a small village with a habituated monkey population of about 350. Feed some bananas to the Mona monkeys to enjoy their friendly nature. Walk about 45 minutes through the thick semi-deciduous forest to the lower section of the Wli Waterfalls. Enjoy a chilly and refreshing atmosphere at the waterfalls.

Day 4 : Volta River Boat Cruise & Bead Factory

Enjoy a boat cruise on the Volta River. Relax and refresh having a beautiful view of the river.
Visit a bead factory to see how traditional Ghanaian beads are crafted.

Day 5 : Ashanti Craft Villages

Morning travel to Adanwomase a kente weaving village. Take a tour of the village seeing the kente craftsmen weaving pieces of kente cloths with their wooden looms. Visit a cocoa farm to see how cocoa is produced in Ghana. Continue to Ntonso an adinkra cloth stamping village. See and learn the various stages of adinkra production.

Day 6 : Prempeh Ii Jubilee Museum, Okomfo Anokye Sword Site & Manhyia Palace Museum

Morning visit to the National Cultural Center a few meters away from the Kejetia market. Tour Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, which provides a fascinating collection of Asante history and treasures. Visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site to make a sightseeing of the sword Okomfo Anokye buried into the ground about 300 years ago, exact place where Okomfo Anokye conjured the Golden stool unto the laps of king Osei tutu I, founder of Asante Kingdom. Continue to Manhyia Palace, official residence of the Asantehene. Tour its museum and learn about the history of the Ashanti Kingdom including the royal lineage, rituals and their struggles for unity.

Day 7 : Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Site

Morning travel to Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Site. Relate to where slave captives were made to take their last bath before transported to the America’s.

Day 8 : Elmina Castle, Kakum National Park & Cape Coast Castle

Morning visit to Elmina Castle, an oldest colonial building in the Sub Saharan African built by the Portuguese in 1482. Continue to the Kakum National Park, a tropical rain forest of an area of about 375 square kilometres notable for nature and wildlife. Hike about 30 minutes ascending the steep hill to take an adrenaline walk on the Canopy Walkway suspended between 11-40 meters high above sea level and 350 meters long. Experience nature and the beautiful view of the forest in a secured series of nets and wires. Tour the Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as one of the largest slave holding sites during the infamous Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Drive from Cape Coast to Accra for departure.

Nyonkopa Eco Tours requires a minimum deposit of 30% or the full booking value, whichever is less, with the final balance not due until 10 days before departure.

At 30 days before tour starts: Forfeit 50% of booking price.
