Dubrovnik. Today begins at Pile Gate, on the eastern side of Dubrovnik Old Town. The main entrance to Old Town, Pile Gate was built in the 15th century and once had a wooden drawbridge attached. Each night, the drawbridge would be pulled up to prevent unwelcome visitors to the walled city.
