Day 14: Petra

Location: Petra

Accommodation Name: hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Wadi Rum - Shobak - Wadi Mujib - Dead Sea. After breakfast at the campsite, we head north along the Desert Highway to visit Shobak Castle, which is perched dramatically on a hill top and was built by the Crusader King Baldwin I, in 1115. After exploring the castle we descend some 1300 meters to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth’s surface. More than 400 meters below sea level, the mineral-rich Dead Sea is the world’s original health and beauty spa. Drift out and bob in the waters and slap on some of the famous black Dead Sea mud to give your skin an invigorating boost.

For departures between April and October, we head up the King’s Highway to Wadi Mujib. We embark on a moderate–paced two hour trek along the Siq Trail. Measuring 500 metres in depth and spanning 4kms across, the impressive Wadi Mujib is one of Jordan’s most remarkable natural features. This dramatic canyon features sheer rocky walls and sparkling waterways that range from puddle height to depths that are perfect for swimming (chest height or deeper) depending on the rainfall. When the water level is high you should be prepared for having to climb up ladders, clamber across boulders and be happy to wade through water. The canyon is just one feature of the Mujib Biosphere Reserve, the lowest nature reserve in the world, home to a surprising diversity of wildlife and plant species. For those not interested in taking the full hike, you can walk part of it or wait by the Visitor Centre until the group returns. After our trek, we make our way to the Dead Sea.

Day 15: Dead Sea

Lucky for us we have a whole day to spend here, whiling away the time bobbing in its mineral-rich buoyant waters and lathering up with a detoxifying mud bath. There is an optional visit to the Ma’in Hot Springs available. This is the site where it is thought Jesus Christ was baptised by John (book locally).

Festive Road to Jordan with Cruise - 16 days

26-Jan-2019

Arriving at the Cairo airport On the go representative was there to meet us helped us through the airport which was great. We arrived 2 Days early before the tour started we had a free day in Cairo. We did the city tour with Sharif who was fantastic. We were a little bit confused with the itinerary which made sense as we started the tour. Day 1 of meeting Waleed our tour group of 14 connected with him straight away. Waleed was professional, educated on all areas of Egypt not just on the places we visited. Waleed definitely made our tour through Egypt pleasurable and exciting with each and every temple, tomb and antiquities we saw and visited he shared his passion of Egypt and knowledge ,no question when unanswered. The tour was put together and coordinated well, The train ride to Aswan was a shock to us as the train was very dirty, the toilet was one of the worst toilets we have ever seen we have travelled Asia we loved the time on the Cruise ship so glad we upgraded. Luxor was amazing, again Waleed constantly went out of his way to make our experience the best one possible. The long Journey from Hurghada to Cairo ancient Museum then to the Airport to fly to Jordan, by the time we arrived in Petra and into our hotel we had been awake and on the for 21.5 Hours. We were too tired to enjoy the Museum and not enough time we felt rushed not being able to take in everything that we had learned on our amazing journey through Egypt. All the hotels we staying we were happy with, they were all clean. I would not advise anyone to travel to Egypt unless on a tour you would never get an understanding of Egypt unless being on a Tour we were very fortunate to have an amazing Tour Guide. Since returning from our tour I have done nothing but recommended On the Go Tours and Waleed, this was my Husband Bruce and I first tour ever, we have always freelanced when we have travelled the world. Thank you On the Go Tours appreciate all the hard work and logistics that go into organising a group on tour, Qualified tour guides with manners and passion (and a good personality) of the country you are touring makes the Tour! We had so many laughs and memorable times
