Day 1
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the George Hotel, Chollerford, for four nights. We enjoy a tea, coffee or mulled wine with a festive treat on arrival to get us into the spirit of the season.
Day 2 Bamburgh Castle
Location: Bamburgh Castle
Bamburgh Castle boasts magnificent decoration at Christmas. Wander through the castle’s festive-themed rooms and take in dazzling displays of kaleidoscopic colours, foliage, and twinkling lights. The theme of 2024 is inspired by Northumberland’s myths and legends, journey through the Castle’s staterooms steeped in stories and folklore and discover a world sprinkled full of fairy magic. Fantastical creatures fly through frosted forests full of faerie magic and tinkling laughter while mermaids and shape-shifting selkies dive through shell-encrusted lagoons.
We return back to the hotel in time for our 'Christmas Dinner' complete with a complimentary glass of wine.
Day 3 Durham
Location: Durham
Discover the historic city of Durham, whose cathedral and castle have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city features a glorious mix of old and new, with ‘olde worlde’ cobbled streets, real ale taverns and tea rooms sitting alongside modern shops, museums and visitor attractions.
Day 4 Hadrian’S Wall Country And Hexham
Location: Hadrian’s Wall Country and Hexham
Enjoy a scenic drive along the route of Hadrian’s famous wall, calling at the ancient market town of Hexham.
We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.
Day 5
We depart the hotel this morning full of festive cheer and return home.
