Tour Overview

The Nar Phu Valley trek just opened in 2003 and still remains a relatively less trekker’s visit area in the Annapurna region. This hidden valley requires a special permit to enter. Located just off the Annapurna Circuit route, the path to Nar Phu explores remote villages, Tibetan-like peoples, forests, narrow canyons, Buddhist monasteries, Gompa, and majestic mountains. A bridge over the Marshyangdi River brings the trail to the steep portals of the Nar Phu Valley, which is easy to miss. Once through the narrow, forested ‘entrance’ a whole other world awaits. This trek is not like another trek as long as on some other treks, 5-6 hours, it is a challenging trek: require a good fitness level is a must and previous trekking experience is recommended. Among the amazing rock formations and glaciers, the Himalayas that are seen along this trail including, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m) and other numerous mountain peaks. We start our trek from Jagat after driving there from Kathmandu. We hike on the Annapurna circuit route to Koto up to Meta from there we will cross the bridge over the Marshyangdi river leading to Nar Phu Valley. The narrow forest entrance opens up to a huge expansion of snow-capped peaks of mountains Kang Garu and Pisang and several others, ancient villages, ruins, and monasteries We will also come across yaks and blue sheep. Then after we explore the alpine valley over Phu and Nar Gaon and cross the Kang la to Manang, we will see great views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho peak. Then we cross the Thorong La pass and head to Muktinath, Jomsom, after a final stop at Tatopani to relax in the hot springs we drive to Pokhara then back to Kathmandu. The best time to trek to Nar Phu Valley is from March to May and September to Mid-December.
