Tour Overview

The Rongai Route is the route of Kilimanjaro that begins from the north side, a route where few climbers are seen along the way. This route affords the opportunity to witness up close the Mawenzi Volcano (the second-highest peak of Kilimanjaro) and the magnificent saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peak. However, it requires a long drive to the park because of passing through the Marangu gate in order to obtain a permit. The route feels relatively lonely as you cross unspoiled wilderness with little crowds to bother you. Your trek begins near the Kenya border, and you will summit via Marangu route and Gilimans point. Descending will take place on the Marangu route. We offer 2 options for the Rongai route covering 5/6/7-day treks, with the 7-day trek being highly recommended for acclimatization. ...more ...less

MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING VIA RONGAI ROUTE 7 DAYS

20-Jul-2022

We did an 7 day rongai route and a 4-day safari with spider tours and safaris. Before we went to Tanzania, a friend recommended spider tours and safaris to us. We are very thankful they did. Even before the trip, they were very quick at answering all of our e-mails. We had an amazing team with us. They were a very professional and friendly group. Our guides, Emanuel and karim were great at keeping our spirits up during the more difficult parts of our trek. They were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We had a blast with them. We were happily surprised at how great we were treated. They kept us safe and informed about the altitude sickness and how to be safe on the mountain. They exceeded all of our expectations. The food was amazing and everything felt very luxurious... even for camping on a mountain! We didn't have to worry about anything; it made our climb feel like a breeze. We were so happy to find a local company too. Lots of the other companies are owned overseas (and hire local Tanzanians). Spider tours and safaris is a 100% local and our guides kept saying how great the boss was (We met him, and he's fantastic). They are also very reasonably priced. We looked at many other companies and some were charging way more than spider tours and safaris. Even after we came down from the mountain, we were looking for a phone charger and some food, and they drove us around Moshi to get it. They seemed to know most of the other guides from other companies, and it was just nice to see all of them interact together. They were joking, singing, teaching us about Tanzania, feeding us, basically just handling everything for us. You'd be crazy not to pick these guys! We had an amazing time and would recommend this company to everybody! They are awesome! Help them get bigger! Go local! ...more ...less

20-Jul-2022

We climbed to the kilimanjaro summit with spider tours and safaris via the rongai Route. It was an unforgettable and breathtaking experience that we will not soon forget. Our guides chikira and vevo took great care of us. With juma we had the best cook ever, unbelievable what he could conjure up with only one gas flame. We were accompanied by 8 porters who did an incredible job. We climbed the summit. Spider tours checked our equipment beforehand and made sure that we were equipped with everything we needed. What we didn't have, we could rent. Oscar picked us up from the airport, he was also super helpful and friendly. On my birthday we came down - they made me a cake and sang to me, it was the nicest birthday in a long time. Spider tours and safaris made us feel absolutely comfortable at all times, and we would book the tour with them again anytime. Highly recommended! Once again a huge thank you to the whole team of spider tours and safaris for these wonderful 7 days. ...more ...less

My wife and I had the opportunity to climb Kilimanjaro using the rongai route over 7 days. Our guides and porters were outstanding. I can’t say enough good things about spider tours and safaris. The hospitality, the food and the preparation we went through on our way to the summit was exceptional. We were able to summit the mountain and it was an absolutely incredible adventure, one that we will never forget for the rest of our lives. Thank you spider tours and safaris for such an amazing experience that we will always cherish. ...more ...less

MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING VIA RONGAI ROUTE 7 DAYS

20-Jul-2022

Did the 7 day rongai Route and 3 day Safari with spider tours and safaris and had a great experience. Derick and Amos were great guides making sure we were feeling good and keeping us motivated throughout the hike. We caught a fair amount of rain which was tough, but the porters were really helpful with drying off our stuff and getting us in and out of our tents. For a lower cost company there was nothing we felt was missing! Great locally owned company! ...more ...less

MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING VIA RONGAI ROUTE 7 DAYS

20-Jul-2022

I recently climbed Kilimanjaro with 3 friends and the spider tours and safaris crew and the experience exceeded expectations in all respects. The climb was tough but the spider tours and safaris team were super encouraging and did everything they could to ensure we were well taken care of and that we all made the summit!! Our guides raab, Fabian & soule were awesome leaders with a strong focus on safety and kept us well paced to ensure we acclimatized well. The porters were absolute legends, charging ahead of us to ensure at each stop, we would arrive to dry tents, hot drinks and popcorn! The food prepared by jafet was excellent and plentiful with waiter/‘client liaison’ Willy making sure we ate plenty and had enough water, dry socks and gloves and everything we could possibly need - not to mention being around for a pep talk when the day 5 exhaustion tears set in. I would highly recommend spider tours and safaris for your Kilimanjaro adventure as they had the climb strategy nailed whilst making the whole experience super fun. We went with them for Safari too - which was also seamless. My mate did most of the organizing/ communication pre-travel and Brian & Emanuel were always super prompt to respond to our multitude of questions. I could not have asked for anything more of spider tours and safaris. It was an experience I will never forget and best of all, they are a local company! ...more ...less
