This 4-day trip to San Juan will let you visit this unique destination outside the conventional itineraries. a place that amazes for its unusual formations and characteristics of the soil. Day 1 : Arrival to San Juan

Location: San Juan

Accommodation: Hotel

Upon arrival, you will be transferred from the airport/bus terminal to the hotel. You will have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure in the city.

Day 2 : Ischigualasto Park: Valle de la Luna

Location: Valle de la luna San Juan

Accommodation: Hotel

We will leave from the selected hotels in San Juan at 7:00 am, and we will travel on National Tourist Route 150 to reach the Ischigualasto Park, or "Valley of the Moon". Together with park guides and in our vehicles, we will travel 4 hours of the internal circuit. The circuit covers about 40 km and has 5 stations, where the most important geoforms are visited, receiving the explanation and interpretation of them by the guides, whose assistance is essential to interpret the signs that nature has left here over more than two hundred million years.

The stations to visit are:
- "The Worm": is the oldest part of the circuit, with rocks over 200 million years old where, among other things, fossilized ferns can be seen with the naked eye.

- "Valle Pintado": Because of its similarity with a lunar landscape, it was once named the Valley of the Moon, a term that extended to the entire area. This is where the vast majority of remains and fossils that are known in the area have been found.

- "Cancha de Bochas": a place where, naturally, without the intervention of human hands, dozens of spherical rocks are found that acquired this shape through a prolonged sedimentation process. On the way to this station, we can also appreciate The Sphinx, another geoform known for its similarity to the Sphinx of Egypt.

- "The Submarine": is located in the highest part of the park where, in addition to explicitly showing the effect of differential erosion in its shape, an exceptional panoramic view of the Barrancas Coloradas and the Hill is obtained Purple.

- "El Hongo": is the most widespread image not only of Ischigualasto park but also of the province of San Juan, becoming a representative icon of tourism in San Juan. Here you can also see very clearly the effects of differential erosion that worn the softer rock at the base of the geoform more, than the harder rock that remains "balancing" on the top.

At the end of the tour, we will visit the Interpretation Center and Museum of Natural Sciences, installed at the entrance to the Park. There are exhibited parts of the paleontological pieces found on the site and their importance is exposed. We will also receive an explanation of the guides about how research, tracking, fossil recovery, and dinosaur assembly are developed.

Return to the city of San Juan in the evening hour.

Day 3 : Talampaya National Park

Location: Parque Nacional Talampaya

Accommodation: Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

We will leave from our selected hotels in the city of San Juan at approximately 7:00 AM. We will start the tour going north of the province through the famous Route 40, crossing the San Juan River and taking Tourist Route 150 at the height of the town of Albardón. We will continue until we reach the limit of San Juan with La Rioja, and then we will take Route 76 to the Talampaya National Park.

Here, we will continue our journey with the circuit 4x4 experience at the Talampaya Canyon and Shimpa Canyon
This excursion is done in a special 4x4 with all comfort and large windows to not miss any detail following the channel of the Dry Talampaya River and through the Canyon that bears the same name. We can go down for small walks to interact with this impressive place, in 4 different stations: Petroglyphs, Botanical Garden, Gothic Cathedral, and El Monje. We will get to know the irregularity of the 150-meter-high walls that open and close at every step, wrapping us in a dreamlike atmosphere. In addition to the 4 previous stations, we will visit the Shimpa Canyon, an atypical place populated by carob trees. In addition, we will enjoy a catering service in a spectacular setting.

Once the circuit is finished, we will return to the city of San Juan where we will arrive at approximately 9:00 pm.

NOTE: The circuit in Talampaya Park is a private tour and the park fee is not included in the price of the package.

Day 4 : Leaving San Juan

Location: San Juan

Accommodation: Hotel

After your breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport/bus terminal according to your departure time.

We are Argentine soccer fans and asked Tangol if they have a tour package in Rosario that includes visits to places related to Lionel Messi, like his birth house and the soccer field (potrero) he played on in childhood. Though Tangol does not have such a package, they tailored a 1-day tour based on our requests for my family (4 persons) with air tickets between Buenos Aires and Rosario, a private minivan + a tour guide in Rosario. The Tangol contact person sent detailed information, including emergency contact, a couple of days before the tour day. Using WhatsApp, she responded promptly and precisely. In Rosario, the tour guide spoke perfect American English. He was friendly to all of us, and we felt comfortable talking to him and asking him many questions. This was one of the best tours I have done in a long time. It was so well organized with friendly, knowledgeable staff and so accommodating to our needs. We are a Hospitality & Tourism group and the way they dealt with us was just excellent!!. We saw a vineyard and a winery, did cooking classes, attended tango show, visited historical sites and so much more. Whatever was aligned to our requirements , we did it!! Working with Abril was wonderful. From the get go she was very transparent about prices allowing me to choose tour operators in both Paraguay and Uruguay- Paraguay in particular is difficult to navigate. When there was the risk of an air strike they called all the hotels and tour operators to change my itinerary dates luckily incurring no extra fees to me for the changes! We kept in touch via WhatsApp during the trip which was EXTREMELY helpful. Having someone for 24/7 contact for emergencies is such a boon for solo travelers. All tour operators were great that were selected, and I got some great pictures of myself at different historical sites. Thanks so much to Abril from TravelLocal and Tangol for their assistance. Do not use this company. On December 19, 2023, my parents went on the Iguazu Falls tour from Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, using this company. The driver they sent scammed my elderly parents, along with many others in the bus, out of an additional $10 USD per person by making them wait in the vehicle while he went to buy the park tickets. He stripped them of the opportunity to go buy the tickets themselves. This scam involved forcing my parents, along with others in the bus, to pay cash at an exchange rate of 175 Portugese Reais, which works out to approximately $35 USD for each park ticket when it should have been around $25 USD. I asked this company four times for the name and phone number of the driver but they refuse to provide the information. Furthermore, the driver then made each person pay an additional 5 Reais on the way back, claiming it was to pay for some additional fee. Lastly, this booking was done for an 8 am tour departure. The company then sent us an email stating 7:40 am pick-up, which was fine. However, the driver showed up at the hotel at 7:10 am while my mother was still eating breakfast telling her to get moving or he would leave them behind. This is the most disgusting company I have ever dealt with and even to this moment they refuse to provide the driver's information to us because are protecting his scam from the police. I petitioned Viator for a refund for at least one of the tickets but this Tangol company lied to them stating that my parents chose to do the conversion at a much higher market exchange rate with the driver. They cancelled a tour the day before-- Pope Francis in Buenos Aires. If you offer a tour I think it is important to go and do the tour as opposed to canceling the day prior. Super frustrating. Would not book with them again.
