California is pretttty spesh – and this mini road trip ticks off alllll of its best bits. Think Pacific Coast gems with main character energy (hello, San Fran), desert scenes that look straight out of a sci-fi movie and the seriously *magical* Yosemite National Park. PLUS we've thrown in a lil pitstop in Nevada to visit the USA’s most OTT city... After an unforgettable West Coast adventure with an awesome bunch of travel besties? THIS is it.
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1: Los Angeles (California)
Accommodation: -Ramada Plaza by Wyndham West Hollywood Hotel & Suites or similar
Meals Included: Dinner
La la land: a city characterised by its blissful lack of touch with reality. And the perfect place to sack off your everyday routine and catapult into an epic West Coast adventure. First: meet your Topdeck fam at our hotel in West Hollywood. This lot? They’re your people. Then: we’ll dig into our first included group dinner and get pumped for good times. Ready for eight days of OG road trippin’? Hell yeah!
Day 2: Los Angeles – Las Vegas (Nevada)
Accommodation: -Flamingo Las Vegas or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast
Today, we’re swapping the Pacific Coast for the Nevada desert. But first: a quick visit to the Hollywood Walk of Fame for some star spotting. We hope you packed your cowboy boots, cos our next stop is Goodsprings Ghost Town – a historic abandoned mining town that’s straight outta the Wild West. After you’ve explored its old stone buildings and had a bite in the epic Pioneer Saloon, we’ll make tracks to Sin City. Seriously, this place is so neon it hurts to look at. But we’ll do just that on a driving tour. Then, the evening is ALL yours. Snap a selfie at the ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign, hit up a Vegas-style pool party or seek out the closest burger joint. FYI the portions here are HUGE so you might wanna wear your elasticated pants.
Day 3: Las Vegas
Accommodation: -Flamingo Las Vegas or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast
From big-budget stage shows, Michelin-star restaurants and Eiffel Tower clones – Vegas is the definition of OTT. But you can’t help love it anyway. Anything goes here and you’ve got a full day to make the most of it. Our suggestions? Flash some plastic at the mall. Stuff your face at one of Vegas’ super-sized buffets. Truly show your new travel bestie how much you love ’em at a little white chapel.Or there’s an optional trip to the shopping-themed (and incredibly whimsical) Meow Wolf Omega Mart interactive art installation on the cards. Tonight? Gather the gang and prepare to be dazzled by Fremont Street’s Viva Vision Light Show (Google it).
Day 4: Las Vegas
Accommodation: -Flamingo Las Vegas or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast
Here’s ANOTHER full free day to explore Vegas. Or, if you’d rather trade neon lights for great heights, there’s an optional day trip to the Grand Canyon National Park up for grabs. Stretches of endless sky. Expanses of red desert. Centuries-old history. This place is out-of-this-world. Wanna know the best way to see it in its entirety? From the sky (obvs). Hop on an optional helicopter or airplane tour and prepare to be wowed by INCRED vistas of the canyon’s iconic landscape. Back in the city, don your sequin bowties and stilettos for one last night on The Strip. We're in Vegas, baby!
Day 5: Las Vegas – Yosemite National Park (California)
Accommodation: -Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner
Shake the confetti from your hair, jump back on the coach and belt out the trip song (in perfect harmony, obvs) – we’re outta here. Next stop? The Sierra Nevada Mountains. This place is Disneyland for outdoor enthusiasts. Think: sheer granite cliffs, GIANT sequoia trees and thundering waterfalls. Over dinner tonight, make a plan of attack for your free day tomorrow – your expert Trip Leader has plenty of suggestions.
Day 6: Yosemite National Park
Accommodation: -Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
There aren’t enough adjectives to describe this place – so we’re not gonna try. You’ve got a full day to experience the magic of Yosemite (yo-sem-it-ee) for yourself. Don’t waste a second. Start with the Mist Trail for incredible views that compensate for the burning calves. Follow the trail to the top of Vernal Falls and be rewarded with a refreshing dip in Emerald Pool. Want more of a challenge? Follow ‘nature’s staircase’ to the top of Nevada Falls. DW if walking isn’t your thing – there’s a free shuttle to get around. Keep your eyes peeled for deer, bears and golden eagles. David Attenborough wannabes eat your heart out. Worked up an appetite? Dinner's on us tonight – time to swap stories with the fam.
Day 7: Yosemite National Park – San Francisco
Accommodation: -BEI San Francisco, Trademark Collection by Wyndham or similar
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Up and at ‘em – the adventure sure as hell isn’t over yet! We’ve got our eye on San Fran next. Home of Alcatraz prison and one famous red bridge that’s pretending to be golden (we see you). Learn the who’s who of ‘The City’ on a driving tour – including Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, the Fisherman’s Wharf and The Painted Ladies. And tonight? It’s our final group din – let’s give this epic adventure the send-off it deserves!
Day 8: San Francisco
Meals Included: Breakfast
You tried the food. Stood on the edge. Said yes to new adventures. New experiences. New friendships. And all in under two weeks! Time to say our goodbyes, swap those TikTok handles and start planning next year’s reunion. Our Get Social: Canadian Rockies trip is pretty sweet. Just putting it out there...
