Nat Geo: The History of Pasta

(English guide, operates Fridays from February to November, shared tour, starts at 8:30 am, duration 8 hrs). Discover the essence of Gragnano on this National Geographic-exclusive pasta tour, starting with a scenic bus ride along the Bay of Naples under the watchful eye of Mount Vesuvius. Your first stop is the Valley of the Mills, a ravine on the slopes between Sorrento, Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the landscape before heading to a renowned pasta factory with deep-rooted traditions. Be amazed by the creativity of chief pasta maker, Antonino Moccia, and the factory's 140 different shapes of pasta. Accompanied by the factory's owner, you'll embark on a tour of the museum. Next, it's time to roll up your sleeves at an interactive pasta-making session, with Nonna Giuseppina on hand to guide you as you knead. Finally, indulge in a pasta lunch featuring ingredients sourced from the factory's garden, a true farm-to-table experience and a rewarding way to end the tour. The tour includes transport, English speaking guide, pasta making class, a glass of wine, drinks and lunch.

Meeting point: Outside Hotel Ramada By Wyndham

Note: Not suitable for wheelchairs, not suitable for gluten-sensitive or gluten-intolerant due to the amount of loose flour in the air.

Nat Geo: Spartacus' World at Ancient Capua

(English guide, operates Saturdays from February to October, shared tour, starts at 9:00 am, duration 4hrs). Boasting a strategic location on the Via Appia, Ancient Capua was a hugely important city since its foundation in the 5th century BCE. Your journey begins at the Arena of Spartacus, the ancient amphitheater in Capua. Second in size only to Rome's Colosseum, this amphitheater is older, better preserved, and less crowded. You'll explore the amphitheater's ‘hypogeum' or underground area. The areas here are far better preserved than those found at the Colosseum of Rome. You'll then visit what is known as the 'gladiator's room,' off limits to other visitors. Still being studied, specialist archeologists are still trying to understand the room's original purpose. An augmented reality experience, exclusive to National Geographic travelers, will bring to life the experience of being Spartacus 2000 years ago. After your tour, relax over a lunch lovingly prepared with local organic produce by owners who take pride in maintaining their historic surroundings. The tour includes transport, English speaking guide, an augmented reality tour, admission fees and lunch.

Meeting point: Outside Hotel Ramada By Wyndham

(English guide, operates Mondays from February to October, shared tour, starts at 8:30 am, duration more than 8 hrs). Discover the treasures of Tramonti on this National Geographic Day Tour. The day starts with a scenic ride along the Bay of Naples, under the watchful eye of Mount Vesuvius, leading through Monte Lattari and Valle dei Chiunzi, where the small hamlets of Tramonti await. Your first stop is the garden of Acarbio, a visionary association committed to reuniting people with tradition. From there, you'll travel to a family-run vineyard, and treat your palate to an exquisite wine tasting, savoring the rich flavors of Amalfi Coast wines. The last stop of the tour is a local Agritourism venue, in their rural restaurant, for a hands-on pizza-making workshop led by a skilled pizza chef, who'll guide you through the art of crafting traditional pizzas. Rome and Amalfi Dream (On Request)

Amalfi ride was an amazing experience! Scary and exciting at the same time. Accomodation was great, and we really liked how the itinerary was designed, because there is a ton of interesting content and still enough time for relaxation.

Rome and Amalfi Dream (On Request)

29-Jun-2022

Overall good. Tour guides we all exceptional. The transportation was a small issue, one ride cane over 30 minutes early (luckily we were ready). The other ride scheduled to take us back to the airport arrived 45 minutes late. Hotel in Rome a bit older but the staff and location very nice. A great restaurant across the street. ...more ...less

Rome & Splendid tour

01-Sep-2022

I loved everything about this tour. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer! Tui Italia took care in answering all our questions, and handling our delayed flight, as well as our early departure request. Each of the local guides along the way did a good job...especially Marco who led our excursion to Capri. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this trip. ...more ...less
