Grading

GRADE 3 - The cycling distances range from 25 to 96km (15.5 to 59.5mi) over undulating terrain with some steep hills - you may need to walk your bike uphill for short sections. The rides follow mostly well surfaced tarmac lanes and secondary roads with little traffic however there are parts of the ride on dirt tracks with a few soft sand areas where caution is required. Inevitably, near the larger towns there is more traffic. It is considered suitable for cyclists with a good level of fitness, able to tackle some hills. E-bikes are available should you be concerned about your fitness. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with road cycling in light traffic in order to participate comfortably. *For safety reasons, we insist that cycle helmets are worn whilst cycling. ...more ...less

Cycle Prague to Vienna

31 Aug 2018

Great trip and scenery - the towns we stopped at were magnificent. We loved every second. Accommodation was great and we felt cared for at every stop. The ride was challenging and exhilarating - the fitness level required is moderate to high and good navigation skills are a must. We averaged 70km (60-90km/day) per day with added alternate routes that took us to some very spectacular look outs. The off road sections and mountain passes required effort with the touring bikes. I have returned a lot fitter. ...more ...less

The tour overall was really enjoyable and well organised. The cycling distance and difficulty were very good, there was a good mix of long and short rides which were suitable to the terrain. The information was thorough and I liked the many options to extend or shorten the rides. It was more difficult than I expected as I hadn't ridden with panniers before and there were some tough climbs, but it was manageable and I thought an appropriate distance for a tour. Some feedback would be to include in the itinerary pack some guidance on how things work in the country, as for example we expected to pay by card in restaurants but had to take out more cash than we expected. Also digital copies of the itinerary and map would have been useful as the physical copies suffered wear and tear. ...more ...less

13 Jun 2017

This was one of our best vacations ever! We loved seeing the Czech countryside up close and visiting the smaller towns, each one cuter than the next. The route through the National Park was particularly beautiful and was our favorite day of the trip. Beer and wine are cheap and plentiful and the food is delicious. We would recommend this trip to anyone who is a fit cyclist who can easily climb 2-3,000 feet/day and who wants to see more of the Czech Republic than just Prague. ...more ...less
