Treasures of the Baltics Self Guided

25 Aug 2022

My wife and I were on the 10-day self-guided tour through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. We spent much of our time being shuttled with a fully-guided tour, but had plenty of opportunities to break off from the group and explore our own routes. The trip included variety of unique destinations that we wouldn’t be able to easily find on our own. The accommodations and transport were first-rate. Our driver Albanius was especially great, as he added a lot of color and context to places where we traveled with his knowledge of history and culture. A really enjoyable bike trek!

There is a lot to like about this Baltic ride - good bikes, good staff, selected interesting rides in lovely countryside that is mostly flat, history & cultural insights. The downside? Many ordinary hotels not suited to warm weather; disjointed tour with long shuttle rides in between riding stretches; the joining of self-guided individuals with a large guided group on the same bus is far from ideal.

Excellent trip through beautiful countrysides and forest, plus staying in interesting cities and towns. E-Bikes were good, maps etc for self-guided were good. I would give 5 stars except the minibus was a bit cramped and the rear suspension was very hard so the ride down the back was uncomfortable.
